Monitors operations and provides expert technical assistance to operations personnel in preparing jobs for processing. Analyzes system reports to assess job control status and suggests changes for operational improvements to systems.
Sr. Computer OperatorEducation & Experience: High School plus four years experience (or certified technical training plus three years) in data processing or computer system operations. One year of experience must be with complex networked computing systems, mass storage devices and peripheral equipment. One year as team leader. Functions/Responsibility: Monitors and operates large-scale computers, sets up hardware, and configures or selects alternate configurations for the operating system. Determines equipment settings and operating instructions. Initiates all operations for both routine and test work. Observes the operation of the computer equipment and takes action as needed to maintain continuous operations. Detects, identifies and corrects for both system and programming errors. Functions/Responsibility: Sets up hardware for routine operations, loads and unloads media on all peripheral devices. Configures or selects alternate configurations for routine system operations. Computer Data LibrarianEducation & Experience: High School plus two years experience (or certified technical training plus three years) in a data processing facility or computer library. Functions/Responsibility: Maintains and services technical and electronic media library. Identifies and resolves problems encountered, documents procedures required to service media library, and prepares reports of library usage. Communicates with customer community in all phases of library management to include collection, cataloging, classification and identification, references, computer and database management systems, and the preservation of electronic media. Technical Subject Matter Specialist IVEducation & Experience: Master s degree plus twelve (12) years experience performing analysis and/or research and/or implementation of complex problems, processes or projects, including database, telecommunications, LAN/WAN, internet/intranet, operating system and/or application system projects. Two (2) years additional relevant experience and a Bachelor s degree relevant to the subject matter may be substituted for the Master s degree. A Ph.D relevant to the subject matter may be substituted for two (2) years of relevant experience. Functions/Responsibility: Performs high-level analysis and/or research and/or implementation of complex problems, processes or projects relating to the subject matter. May augment project teams or advise and participate in all phases of solution development by providing high level functional and systems analysis, design, integration, documentation, and complementation advice on complex problems which require formal education in the subject matter for effective implementation. Participates as needed in all phases of solution development/delivery with emphasis on the planning, analysis, testing, integration, documentation, and acceptance phases. May direct and participate in the design and development of operational prototypes. Thinks and works independently and may provide technical direction to others. Responsible to interface with and communicate with other technical personnel, clients, managers, and subordinates. Prepares technical reports and related documentation. Prepares charts and graphs summarizing results and project status. Prepares and delivers presentations and briefings.
Systems EngineerEducation & Experience: BS (engineering, computer sciences, or related) with four (4) years general software and network engineering experience and one (1) year of experience as a Lead Engineer. Functions/Responsibility: Under general direction, responsible for complex network engineering and/or analytical tasks and activities associated with one or more technical areas within the telecommunications function (e.g., system analysis, design, engineering, implementation, or operations/user support).
Senior ProgrammerEducation & Experience: BS (engineering, computer sciences, or related) with five (5) years experience in all phases of the creation of complex software programs or projects, including such areas as database, communications, internet/intranet, operating system, web design and/or application system projects. Functions/Responsibility: Performs such functions as design, development, test and implementation of new complex software products, or will modify existing complex software designs in order to enhance functionality. The final work product will be a fully documented design and such fully tested media as may be the appropriate for the client site. Will write and deliver such documents as Product Requirements, Product Specifications, Version Description Documents, Test Plans and Procedures, Test Reports, User s Manuals, Product Listings, Flow Charts, etc.
Education & Experience: BS (engineering, computer sciences, or related) with six (6) years of progressively more difficult experience in Systems Administration. Experience shall include optimizing servers, and appropriate LAN devices. Shall have administered a LAN of at least 20 workstations or larger for one year in the past three. Functions/Responsibility: Responsible for the administration of a server based computer system. Oversees the day-to-day activities of a system and is responsible for all applications present on the system. Administers related systems including security, communications, software applications, electronic mail, bulletin boards, printing services, outside communications links (Wide Area Network connectivity), UPS service, and minor hardware problems. Optimizes the server and FTS services. Maintains server management records and assists in using the computer system. Creates scripts needed to automate system operation as appropriate. Functional Area Expert-IEducation & Experience: Master s Degree plus thirteen (13) years experience performing analysis and/or research and/or implementation of complex problems, processes or projects, related to a specific functional area of expertise. Two (2) additional years of relevant experience and a Bachelor s Degree relevant to the subject matter may be substituted for the Master s Degree.
